Only parents or grandparents may visit minors in custody. Special visits may be approved by your child's Probation Officer in consultation with the Juvenile Hall Manager on a case by case basis at least 48 hours in advance. Minors are allowed one hour of visitation per week, but it is a privelege and may be denied due to poor behavior. From time to time, situations may arise with the hall that may require asjustments to routine visiting times.
All visitors to the facility are subject to being searched for purposes of safety and security of the institution. All purses, or other bags will not be permitted iniside the facility. Visitors must have a photo I.D. card, such as a drivers license and must present it to hall staff prior to visitation.
Anyone coming to visit may not leave another person waiting for them in the parking lot or foyer outside the facility. This includes children, as well as any other adult who may be transporting the visitor.
Loud, unmannerly visits will be terminated by staff. Visitors are not permitted entrance into the facility if they are found to be under the influence of any drug or alcohol at which time local law enforcement will be notified.
Visits are monitored by staff.
Smoking is not permitted inside the juvenile hall. All items to be given to a detained minor must be approved by juvenile hall staff prior to the visit. Please see the approved list of items below that may be accepted.
Approved Items:
Stationary (writing paper, stamps, envelopes)
Deck of cards
Acceptable hygiene products (new and unopened): toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo (up to 12 oz. containers only).
Calling cards
Books (no hardbacks)
puzzle magazines
other items as approved by the Juvenile Hall Manager
Not Approved:
food of any kind
greeting cards, post cards
pictures/photographs
specified hygiene items (dental floss, q-tips, cologne/perfume, mouthwash, etc.)
magazines
