| Based on a new law passed by congress, Glenn County will be receiving about $100,000 per year that can be used to implement various projects that will enhance our forests and streams and provide fire protection to local communities, Colusa County will be receiving about $36,000. Glenn and Colusa Counties have agreed to a combined RAC. In order to receive these funds Glenn and Colusa Counties must nominate 15 local people to serve on a Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) to review and/or approve project proposals. The Glenn-Colusa Resource Advisory Committee will be made up of citizens from both counties, five of which must represent each of the three following categories: Category A · Organized labor · Developed outdoor recreation, off highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities · Energy and Mineral development interests · Hold federal grazing permits, or other land use permits with the committee area Category B · Nationally recognized environmental organizations · Regionally or locally recognized environmental organizations · Dispersed recreational activities · Archaeological and historical interests · Nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups Category C · Hold State elected office or their designee · Hold county or local elected office · American Indian tribes within or adjacent to the committee area · Are school official or teacher · Affected public at large The Resource Advisory Committee is selected by the Secretary of Agriculture, appointed for a three year term, serve with no compensation and reside within the State and to the extent practical, the local area. The Glenn-Colusa RAC will probably meet quarterly in Willows and/or Colusa and may be used to advise the Mendocino National Forest on management issues in addition to review and/or approval of funds from The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000.
