The Glenn County America’s Job Center has been awarded a small grant to assist VETERAN’S

in moving quickly from military life into high-wage jobs and civilian careers.

This project will focus on training veterans for careers in the following industries: 

(1) Healthcare, (2) Protective Services, (3) Installation/Maintenance, and (4) Production and Transportation 

The Glenn County America’s Job Center will be able to serve veterans who have service-connected disabilities; campaign veterans; veterans with significant barriers; as well as eligible spouses and recently-separated veterans.

Recently-separated veterans will be a high priority for this project. This group is most in need of identifying transferable skills, re-training into civilian occupation areas, and assistance with job attainment and retention.

 The Night Warehouse Order Selector is a material handling, labor intensive position which processes assignments in the warehouse by manually selecting the correct product from the racks and palletizes them. The position is responsible for delivering the product to the dock (shipping area), shrink wraps pallet and puts pallet ID tag for the delivery of the product in a safe manner. Laptops Available For Checkout at the Orland Library - The library now offers access to JobNow, a unique suite of resources for job seekers, including on-demand access to trained career experts who provide live, one-to-one interview coaching and resume assistance.  JobNow services include: · Live Interview Coaching- Job seekers get live interview practice from online job coaches. · Premium Resume Lab- Online resume/cover letter assistance from trained writing experts. Job Resources– A carefully selected library of interview tips, resume templates. You can access all of these resources by checking out a laptop computer for use in the library.  The laptops have an extended checkout time of 4 hours and all you need is a library card and a picture ID.
