UC Cooperative Extension - 4-H PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE (CES II) - GLENN COUNTY

4-H Program Representative (CES II) – Glenn County. The University of California Cooperative Extension- Glenn County is seeking applications for a dynamic, innovative individual to fill the position of 4-H Program Representative (CES II). The 4-H Youth Development Program in Glenn County provides ongoing management of the 4-H program, overseeing the traditional club program and pursuing opportunities to expand and diversify the local program. The Glenn County Cooperative Extension is a vibrant office comprised of several dynamic youth-minded, energetic and motivated staff who bring a sense of purpose and enjoyment to their work. The primary commodities are rice, almonds and walnuts, milk products, prunes and livestock. The Glenn County 4-H program currently includes 564 4-H members and 100 4-H leaders. Position Summary: To provide leadership, guidance and management to the 4-H Youth Development Program in Glenn County. The position is for 25 hours per week (0.625 FTE), with the potential for additional hours, if funding allows. The Community Education Specialist 2 will perform the full range of program implementation duties. Incumbent will be responsible for the coordination, management, and delivery of education to community members through a combination of direct education and volunteer management. This includes training, guiding, and supporting volunteer extenders with education information and resources; evaluating program implementation; collecting and compiling enrollment, documentation, and evaluation data from volunteer extenders and participants; and writing reports in compliance with funding requirements. Incumbent will build and maintain an informal network of partners, align special education projects with UC approved curricula and educational materials, develop news releases and news articles, and maintain subject matter competence. This position's primary focus will be on conducting, managing, and evaluating an education program to improve the environment of the school and community. This position will promote, in all ways consistent with other responsibilities of the position, the affirmative action goals established by the Division. Duty/Responsibility: Recruits, trains, and provides support for agency and school representatives who act as educators/extenders to deliver UC approved curricula and activities. May recruit for other team members. Coordinate with volunteers for lesson delivery and management as needed. Reviews evaluation data when completed by volunteers to ensure minimum evaluation requirements are achieved. Makes recommendations to volunteers to ensure participant success. Completes required documentation of enrollment and evaluation for reporting purposes. Prepares all reports as necessary for documenting program accomplishments. Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops. Percentage of Time: 40%.

PURPOSE: To provide all administrative duties required to operate the Westside Domestic Violence Shelter and Services serving Glenn County in a cost-efficient manner while maintaining quality services to the community.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: A minimum of four years of college. A degree in social work, psychology or related field preferred. Knowledge in domestic violence desired. Equivalent skills as demonstrated by experience may be counted as additional education.

EXPERIENCE: Administrative experience at supervisory level necessary. Must have knowledge of budgetary and fiscal responsibilities. Background in grants writing and program development.  Available by telephone to staff in emergencies.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Work well with the public in receiving and marketing donations, collaboration with other agencies for provision of services to the clients and referrals to resources in the community.

TRANSPORTATION: Possess an automobile, a California Driver’s License and minimal auto liability insurance as required by law. Must be able to use personal vehicle in the course of performing routine job duties, if necessary.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: 1. Provide all administrative duties as required to operate the Shelter and Office and personnel in a cost-effective manner. Monitor the budget. 2. Policies for WDVS. 4. Responsible for providing training for the Staff and local volunteers to provide direct prevention and intervention services to the rural communities of Glenn County. 5. Responsible for public relations activities such as presentations, provide information about the Shelter to the community, and network with agencies, organizations, business, and local service organizations. Coordinate and deliver community education in Domestic Violence. 6. Provide Staff supervision, and plan and direct staff meetings to assure the yearly goals and concerns are being met.
