CASE MANAGER

Westside Domestic Violence Shelter is hiring a CASE MANAGER, who will work under the supervision of the Director of the Westside Domestic Violence Shelter. The Case Manager's responsibilities are individualized confidential family case management and self-sufficiency program planning, under the direction of the Program Director. WORK SCHEDULE: 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may include nights and weekends. REQUIREMENTS: 40-hour DV certification as required under CA Evidence Code 1037. This can be obtained after being hired. In addition, we require a live scan/background check and a DMV record.

Job Requirements: 
JOB DESCRIPTION: *Maintain confidentiality and Client-Victim Privilege laws. *Conduct and write clear, concise intake assessments with clients and explain program rules and regulations, and maintain relevant, meaningful case plans and schedules that will be monitored and completed. *Provide client transportation, resourcing, referrals and legal advocacy. *Develop and maintain case records that document services provided to residents. *Implement policies and procedures established by the Program Director, Board of Directors through administration of program's daily activities. *Assist with the supervision of program operations including family housing placement, case management services, house meeting and room check. *Provide direct services to shelter clients including domestic violence advocacy with outside agencies. *Respond to emergency situations including crisis counseling and safety planning. *Establish and maintain cooperative relations with local agencies and program funders. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: *Mobility - sitting for long periods of time (data entry, intake), occasional standing for long periods of time, walking, pushing/pulling, bending/squatting, driving and climbing stairs. *Lifting - frequently 5 lbs. or less; occasionally 5-30 lbs. *Visual - constant use of overall vision and reading/close-up work; frequent need for hand/eye coordination and field of vision. *Dexterity - frequent holding, reaching, grasping, repetitive motion and writing. *Hearing/Talking - frequent hearing of normal speech, hearing on the telephone, talking in person and on the telephone. *Emotional/Physiological factors - frequent decision making, concentration, working alone, and occasional public contact. *Special requirements - some assignments may require occasional working weekends, nights and/or occasional overtime, occasional travel. *Environmental conditions - occasional exposure to noise, dust and poor ventilation; occasional exposure to varied weather conditions.
Announcements: 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *A combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities - degree in social work/ psychology preferred. *A working knowledge of current program issues, dynamics and concerns. *At least one year of experience in service programs, service implementation and community development. *Communicates effectively with all in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation. *Strong ability with oral, written and listening skills. Spanish preferred. *Experience with direct service provisiion and peer counseling. *Experience as a team player. *Must have a valid driver's license.
