BRIDGE 11C0057 OVER SALT CREEK ON COUNTY ROAD 306 CLOSURE

UPDATE #2

On January 23, 2023, Cal-Trans Structure Maintenance & Investigations met with Glenn County Public Works Agency staff to evaluate the bridge substructure (footings, abutments, subgrade, approaches, and scour). On January 31, 2023 Cal-Trans closed the critical finding issued for this bridge, confirming that the scour had not progressed significantly and that once the approaches have been repaired, the structure will be stable and can be reopened to traffic.

On February 1, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency issued Amendment No. 6 to Notice of a Major Disaster Declaration. The amendment includes Glenn County among those areas determined to have been affected by the declared disaster and qualifies the county to leverage federal resources and funding.

Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Emergency Relief (ER) program provides funds for road and bridges that suffered serious damage from the declared disaster. Emergency Relief funding supplements resources from States, localities and other Federal agencies to help in the repair of facilities damaged by eligible events. Roads and bridges that are damaged as a direct result of a natural disaster are eligible for ER funds.

The Glenn County Public Works Agency staff is working quickly with consultants to complete and submit a Damage Assessment Form to FHWA requesting to proceed with permanent repairs to the bridge. The completion of the permanent work is the most economical and feasible process to quickly reopen the bridge to traffic.

The bridge will remain CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC until the approaches can be repaired.

We understand the impacts of this closure to the residents in the community, however, the safety of our residents and motorist is priority.
