Hamilton City, CA – Monday, October 21, 2019, Deputies from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office responded a report of a vehicle collision in the area of 2nd St. and Sierra Ave. in Hamilton City around 10:30 PM. Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with EMS, Hamilton City Volunteer Fire Department and CHP Officers arrived on scene and discovered a maroon Acura passenger car collided with a utility pole, trampoline and parked vehicle before coming to rest in the driveway of a residence on the northwest corner of 2nd St.
The County of Glenn Public Works Agency, Solid Waste Division, announces the opening of the new Glenn County Transfer Station on Monday, October 14, 2019. Operating hours will remain unchanged from landfill operations, Monday through Saturday 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Glenn County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a test of the CodeRED and Nixle mass notification systems the morning of Wednesday, September 25, 2019. PEOPLE v. RAMON BARRERA Jr.- Today, defendant plead guilty to a violation of Penal Code Section 192(c)(1), Vehicular Homicide. On January 22, 2017, Defendant drove his 2010 Ford Fusion recklessly passing several vehicles traveling on Highway 32. The last vehicle he passed resulted in a head on collision striking Brett Silva's vehicle. Brett Silva lost his life as a result of this collision. Mr. Silva's two minor children, were severely injured.

The Glenn County Air Pollution Control District and the Glenn County Public Health Department are issuing this Air Pollution Advisory to notify the public of potential poor air quality conditions in Glenn County due to smoke from multiple fires in surrounding counties. Regional air quality is forecast to potentially reach unhealthy levels. Smoke impacts are expected to vary during the course of the next several days depending on wind direction and the intensity of the fire activity.
PEOPLE V. ACEVEDO, STEVEN- Defendant was previously convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 4573, Bringing Drugs Into Jail and was found in violation of probation for the 4th time. Defendant was sentenced to a mandatory supervision term of 5 years with 2 years in local prison and 3 years suspended on mandatory supervision. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Probation Department Officer Permann.

PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON LOCAL GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS
PEOPLE V. TILLIS, SHAWNTRE - Defendant, age 24 from Antioch, CA, was convicted of felony violations of TWO SEPARATE COUNTS of Penal Code section 191.5(a), Gross Vehicular Manslaughter of I.G. and F.G., TWO SEPARATE COUNTS Vehicle Code section 23153(a), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Injury, TWO SEPARATE COUNTS Vehicle Code section 23153(b), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol over 0.08% BAC Causing Injury, and SIX SEPARATE Special Allegations in violation of Vehicle Code section 23558, Injury or Death to Multiple Victims, J.D., R.D., C.R.D., Y.S., A.G., and E.S.
This vehicle collision occurred on March 12, 2017 and took the life of 2 people and injured 5 others including great bodily injury requiring multiple surgeries including a broken neck, when Defendant chose to drink with a blood alcohol content of .14/.13%. The incident took place on Interstate-5 just north of County Road 57 with Defendant driving impaired over 117 MPH and involved 7 vehicles in the collision. The victims deceased in this case were a 2 year old little boy and his father, I.G. and F.G., who were driving back home from Disneyland. Defendant was sentenced to the maximum sentence permitted under California sentencing laws 15 years state prison. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from the CHP – Willows Officer Kerr, MAIT Officers Mitchell, Dalin, Hamann, and Chico Police Department Officer Consiglio, and Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency - HHSA Victim Witness Advocate Jacinto. Dwayne Stewart, District Attorney, offers his heartfelt condolences to the survivors of this collision and commends Y.S. for speaking at the sentencing on behalf of her family losing her husband and son.
The Corning Sub-basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency and the Tehama County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Groundwater Sustainability Agency have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide services for the development of the Corning Subbasin Groundwater Sustainability Plan.
