FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NORTH EAST WILLOWS PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROJECT
Glenn County, CA – As part of the ongoing North East Willows Pavement Rehabilitation Project, the Glenn County Public Works Agency is set to begin maintenance and rehabilitation work on First Street starting July 22, 2025. This work will involve preparing the roadway surface between Garden Street and Cherry Street for a chip seal application.
The maintenance on First Street is expected to take approximately 2 to 3 weeks, culminating in a final chip seal treatment that will improve the durability and safety of the roadway for residents and commercial traffic.
In addition, the Public Works Agency will also apply chip seal to County Road 49 ½ as part of this targeted effort to maintain and enhance the roadways in the North East Willows area.
These improvements are part of the County’s strategy to maintain road infrastructure in the short term while the County Engineering staff conducts a comprehensive review and develops a long-term rehabilitation plans for other roadways in the area.
The project is primarily funded through local resources, with no federal funds currently allocated. The Public Works Agency remains actively engaged in seeking additional funding sources to support further roadway infrastructure improvements. Although the County’s application for the 2025 BUILD grant was unsuccessful, preparations are underway to submit an application for the 2026 funding cycle as soon as it becomes available.
The Glenn County Public Works Agency thanks residents for their patience during this maintenance work and is committed to enhancing the safety throughout the Northeast Willows community.
