The County Counsel is the legal advisor to the Board of Supervisors, all County Departments, some independent governmental Agencies, all dependent special districts, and independent special districts who retain the County Counsel's services.
The County Counsel reviews and drafts ordinances and administrative policies at board or department request, reviews all county contracts, attends all Board of Supervisor's meetings and deals with all of the county’s litigation and outside counsel, except for those claims accepted by the county's insurance carriers. This office also advises county officials and departments on legal issues when requested.
The County Counsel represents the County’s Public Guardian/Public Administrator and makes appearances with regard to Conservatorships and Accountings.
Pursuant to Government Code 65858(d) a report shall be issued prior to the extension or expiration of the interim (urgency) ordinance describing the measures taken to alleviate the condition which led to the adoption of the ordinance. The below report is a summary of actions taken by County staff since the adoption of the Marijuana Urgency Ordinance #1261.
