PAROLE DENIED!

In 1998, Inmate Gerardo Valenzuela beat Ventura Ruiz to death with a hammer and then attempted to do the same to Efrain Garcia. In 1999, he was convicted of Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree murder for his crimes. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.

On January 14th 2022 a parole hearing was held for Inmate Valenzuela. Deputy District Attorney Michael Coffey attended the hearing on behalf of the People of Glenn County to oppose his release. After a hearing that lasted more than 3 hours, the parole board determined that Inmate Valenzuela continues to pose an unreasonable risk to the public and denied his parole for 3 years.

PEOPLE V. BRIAN GRIMM - Defendant was convicted of felony violations of Health and Safety Codes 11379, Transportation of Methamphetamine, 11378, Possession of Sale of Methamphetamine and Penal Code section 148(a)(1), Resist Obstruct Delay Peace Officer. Defendant was sentenced to 4 years 8 months concurrent to his 7 year 1 month Oregon prison sentence he is currently serving. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Detective Lopeteguy and Deputy Ayres.

PEOPLE V. KYLE MINGS - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 245(a)(1), Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Concrete Wall and Floor. Defendant was sentenced to 3 years concurrent to the current prison sentence he is serving for Glenn County. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sheldon and Officers White and Martinez.

PEOPLE V. JACOB KENNEDY-CUMMINGS - Defendant was previously convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 261.5(c), Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and 273a(b), Child Endangerment and was found in violation of probation for the 8th time. Defendant was sentenced to 497 days jail and probation was terminated. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Probation Officer Van Eck.

PEOPLE V. MANUEL ROBLES - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of 273.5(a), Corporal Injury on a Cohabitant. Defendant was sentenced to 210 days jail stayed upon successful completion of 3 years probation and 52 weeks of Batterers Treatment Classes. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Lourenzo.

PEOPLE V. CHENTEL RIOS - Defendant was previously convicted of a felony violation of 530.5(a), Identity Theft and was found in violation of probation for the 1st time. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail and was reinstated on 2 years of probation. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Probation Department Officer Van Eck.

PEOPLE V. ANGEL BUSH- Defendant was previously convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 4573.6, Bringing Drugs to Jail and was found in violation of probation for the 4th time. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail and was reinstated on probation. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Probation Department Officer Van Eck.

PEOPLE V. HEATHER MATNEY- Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 451(c), Arson. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail, 52 weeks Batterers Treatment Classes, and 3 years probation. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ramirez, Sergeant Draper, and Orland Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chaney. Restitution is reserved.

PEOPLE V. BORIS DIONICIO-FUENTES - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Health and Safety Code section 11378, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail, 2 years probation, and $6,532 were forfeited. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Detective Lopeteguy and Orland Police Department Officers Pinedo and Carmon and Sergeant Cessna.

PEOPLE V. ARTURO BERMUDEZ - Defendant was convicted of a misdemeanor violation of Vehicle Code section 23152(b), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail concurrent to the Butte County 3 year prison sentence he is currently serving. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from CHP - Willows Officers Nibert and Oliveros.

PEOPLE V. BRITTNIE FONSECA - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 487(a), Grand Theft over $950. Defendant was sentenced to 180 days jail, drug court, and 2 years probation. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Cordova.

PEOPLE V. RAY LEE WALLIS - Defendant was convicted of a misdemeanor violation of Penal Code section 243(e)(1), Domestic Battery. Defendant was sentenced to 133 days jail, 52 week batterer's treatment classes, and 3 years probation. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Orland Police Department Officers Pinedo and Flores.

PEOPLE V. ISMAEL SOLIZ JR. - Defendant was previously convicted of two felony violations of Penal Code section 273a(a), Child Abuse Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury or Death and was found in violation of probation for the 3rd time. Defendant was sentenced to 120 days jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Deputy Probation Officer Ortiz.

PEOPLE V. LATSAMY KANGMEUANG - Defendant was convicted of felony violations of Vehicle Code section 2800.2, Evasion and Penal Code section 496d(a), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Defendant was sentenced to 120 days jail and 2 years probation. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Turner and Orland Police Department Sergeant Johnson.

PEOPLE V. DAVID GUTIERREZ - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 4573.6(a), Possession of Drugs in Jail and 30305(a)(1), Possession of Ammunition by a Felon. Defendant was sentenced to 90 days jail, drug court, and 2 years probation. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputies Thompson, Cordova, and Vargas.

PEOPLE V. TJ MORRISON - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Vehicle Code section 10851(a), Automobile Theft. Defendant was sentenced to 60 days jail, drug court, and 2 years probation. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Orland Police Department Officers Flores and Carmon.
