Job Description

Under the direction of the Operations & Maintenance Foreman:

              A.       constructs, remodels or removes wood frame, concrete, masonry, metal and other types of structures utilizing a variety of skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, concrete placing and finishing, mig/arc and acetylene welding/cutting;

              B.       fabricates tools, fittings and other parts or components needed for Authority maintenance and construction projects which can not be readily or economically acquired commercially, utilizing a variety of skills including mg/arc and acetylene welding/cutting and machin­ing.

              C.       operates various construction and maintenance equipment. 

              D.       removes, repairs, tests and installs a variety of sizes and types of water meters and pressure regulators, troubleshoots and repairs computerized canal automation system;

E.        facilitates account management by providing meter turn‑on/turn‑­off services;

Mechanic/Welder Duties: Under the direction of the General Manager/Operations & Maintenance Supervisor.

              A.      maintains and repairs all Authority mechanical equipment, vehicles and                          construction equipment;

B.      in conjunction with warehouse functions, operates a computer-based equipment preventative maintenance program; 

C.      maintains an appropriate inventory of spare parts and other maintenance items;

D.      reads and interprets mechanical equipment and vehicle specifications and details;

E.       fosters a positive attitude among Authority employees about the proper and safe use, service and maintenance of Authority equipment;

F.       supervises employees assigned to vehicle maintenance and, when directed, trains or assists in the training of subordinates;
