High water levels on Stony Creek

Orland, CA – Stony Creek is experiencing higher than normal water levels due to runoff from recent storms as well as releases from Black Butte Dam. Increased flows on Stony Creek have caused some erosion of the riverbed and caused water to encroach further on to property than seen in the past in areas of Orland including in the vicinity of Stony Creek subdivision.

Glenn County Sheriff’s Office – Office of Emergency Services (OES), Glenn County Public Works, Orland Police Department, Orland Fire Department, Orland Public Works, and Orland City Manager met and assessed the site north of Stony Creek subdivision this morning. At this time there is NO imminent threat to public safety from Stony Creek and there are NO evacuation orders. We will continue to monitor the water levels and assess the situation.

Residents throughout Glenn County should continue to be prepared for flooding and remain alert for emergency notifications. Residents should be prepared throughout the storm season with emergency supplies, go-bag, and evacuation plan.
