Vegetative Environmental Management

In collaboration with Glenn County Public Works/Road Department, the Glenn County Department of Agriculture administers the vegetative control program (Vegetative Environmental Management or VEM) for county roads and rights-of-way; the Road Department performs applications based on recommendations provided by the Agriculture Department. The program consists of pre- and post-emergent treatment applications performed countywide. The purpose of the program includes but is not limited to reducing the establishment or spread of invasive and noxious weeds to agricultural and residential properties, curtailing road degradation, providing an unobstructed line of sight for turning and merging vehicles, and allowing for safer emergency roadside stops where there is potential for accidental fire.
